Having a baby shower in the near future or know someone who is? You too can rock your baby shower and make sure everyone has fun!

Have a Facebook Baby Shower!

When I was pregnant, I lived over 600 miles away from my family. Because of this, my mom had the great idea to throw me a baby shower on Facebook! We already have a family page that we frequently post, so it made it a bit easier. You can easily create a group on facebook for your party, add your friends/family, and it’s all set up!

In your group: you can post updates on your pregnancy, your baby registries, and people can collaborate easily. This option is great for people like me who are introverted and do not particularly like parties. While it isn’t the most personable option, it is ideal for people who live long distance and can not meet for an in person party.

Use Downloadable Games and Invites

Cards by Caylissa is an Etsy shop that I created to help people save money on party games and invitations. In the shop, there is a variety of invites and party games that you can purchase for a low price, download, and print on your own! It really cuts the cost and you can print as many as you want. I personally recommend using a printing service (they’re cheap!) and you can choose your size and they will do any special formatting that you want done.

They are also customizable and I will create all new custom games/invites if you have a theme in mind that is not currently in the shop. Just choose a design (a specific game, invitation, or other) and send me a message! I will design your custom card and send you the draft to approve. If you love it, you can buy it! If you hate it, there is no commitment and you are not locked in on having to purchase it.

Create an Amazing Baby Registry!

This one can be a game changer because I personally got almost everything on my baby registry from the online baby shower that my mom threw. It helped so much with baby expenses because I had to buy almost NOTHING and got everything that I wanted! Now, this isn’t always guaranteed because I have a huge family and a lot of them pitched in. Every situation is different, but having a good registry can really help.

I recommend using the Amazon Baby Registry. You can get almost anything on Amazon and they send you a FREE welcome box for registering and spending $10 from your registry. It is so simple! My welcome box had mostly small samples, but it also included a toy, pacifier, and a muslin swaddle blanket that was my son’s favorite! I honestly included pretty much everything that I thought I would want or need on my registry. Having both larger priced items and small priced items, it gives everyone a chance to get you a present without HAVING to break the bank. Some friends or family members may be able to afford that $200 stroller, but chances are that not everyone will. So adding some smaller, less expensive things to your registry gives the other people a chance to get stuff that you like without having to spend too much.

Shop for Discount Decorations

When having a party, I always look at dollar tree for decorations. They have tons of party supplies in a variety of colors, styles, and themes. The best part? Everything there is $1 or under! Aside from their party supplies, they also have crafty items that you can use to make things like: cute centerpieces, table decorations, party favors, etc..

I often go there when I need things like:

  • Paper plates, bowls, silverware, and cups
  • Balloons
  • Paper lanterns, pom-poms, and hanging flowers
  • Wrapping paper
  • Decorations
  • Craft Supplies

You can also get some awesome deals for baby shower decorations on Amazon. I really like their decoration bundles that include multiple pieces like: balloons, pom-poms, banners, and more!

Have a Gender Reveal Party

Finding out the gender of your baby is one of the most exciting times in your pregnancy. Friends and family are always so excited to hear the news about whether you will be having a girl or boy. Sharing this with them at the party is a fun activity that everyone will love! There are so many ways to do this.

Some ideas are:

  • Cake/cupcake filling
  • Putting blue or pink balloons in a box and opening it at the party
  • Filling a balloon with colored powder, glitter, etc and popping the balloon
  • Opening an envelope from the doctor and reading it (if you also don’t know, you can ask the doctor/lab tech to do this)

No matter what, remember that ultimately the baby shower is about you and your little bundle of joy, so choose options that will make you happy! As always, feel free to message me your ideas and comments! There are so many different baby shower tips and ideas; I would love to hear yours!

Facebook baby shower is the way to go when there’s many miles difference! I had 3 baby showers thrown for me with my first baby….not one shower thrown for my other 5 babies afterward. 🙂
